DOCTRINE OF FEASTS
  1. Three times a year the men of Israel were required to present themselves before the Lord, Ex.23:14-17.
    1. The first was the Feast of Unleavened Bread.
    2. The second was the Feast of Pentecost, or Weeks/Harvest.
    3. The third was Tabernacles.
    4. These feasts were based on Israel's agricultural economy.
    5. During these feasts, they were to comply with the law of the first born. First born were to be offered up or redeemed.
    6. They were also to bring produce.
    7. The Lord protected the land during this time, Ex.34:24.
  2. The Mosaic Law specified the observance of seven national holidays, Lev.23.
    1. Feast of Passover: Jesus Christ on the Cross 14th of Nisan. It was always on Friday, 1Cor.5:7.
    2. Feast of Unleavened Bread: the importance of Bible Doctrine. It occurred the week of 15-21 Nisan, from Saturday to Saturday.
    3. Feast of First Fruits on 16th of Nisan, on Sunday. It pointed to the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 1Cor.15.
    4. Feast of Pentecost occurred 50 days after first fruits on June 6th, and points to the resurrection and work of Jesus Christ. Pentecost means 50th day in Greek. Also called Harvest and Weeks. It was a one-day feast. The period between Pentecost and Trumpets points to the Church Age.
    5. Feast of Trumpets on the 1st day of Tishri. It points to the regathering of Israel at the Second Advent.
    6. Feast of Atonement on the 10th day of Tishri - national conversion at the Second Advent.
    7. Feast of Tabernacles 15-21 of Tishri, called Ingathering or Booths. Pictures the 1,000-year reign of Christ on earth.
  3. Israel's feasts outline the nation's history.
    1. Passover - Egypt to the Red Sea crossing.
    2. Unleavened Bread - Bible Doctrine is always the issue.
    3. First Fruits - resurrection Sunday, 1Cor.15:20.
    4. Pentecost - resurrection and ascension.
    5. GAP (grace apparatus for perception) - the Church Age.
    6. Trumpets - regathering, Mt.24:31.
    7. Atonement - national conversion, Rom.11:26.
    8. Tabernacles - the Millennium.
  4. The gap between Pentecost and Trumpets indicates the Church Age.
