DOCTRINE OF SANCTIFICATION
April 19, 1981
  1. Etymology of Biblical words.
    1. vd;q', Qadash: to sanctify.
    2. a[gioj, hagios: holy, saint.
    3. a[giothj, hagiotes: holiness.
    4. a`giosu,nh, hagiosune: sanctification.
    5. a`giosmo,j, hagiasmos: holiness.
    6. a`gia,dzw, hagiadzo: to sanctify.
  2. All words basically connote separation to someone or something; generally in the Bible to God.
  3. The agencies of sanctification.
    1. The Son of God, Heb.10:10,14.
    2. Holy Spirit, Rom.15:16; 2Thess.2:13.
    3. Word of God, Jn.17:17; Eph.5:26.
  4. Phase 1 sanctification (positional). All believers at the point of salvation are positionally set apart to God, 1Cor.1:2,30; 6:11; Heb.10:10,14.
  5. Phase 2 sanctification (experiential).
    1. Filling of the Holy Spirit, 2Thess.2:13.
    2. Daily function of GAP (grace apparatus for perception), Jn.17:17; Eph.5:26
  6. Phase 3 sanctification (ultimate): The believer in resurrection body minus old sin nature (OSN), minus human good, Rom.8:29; 1Cor.1:8; Phil.3:21; 1Thess.5:23, 1Jn.3:2.
  7. Phase 2 sanctification has several related objectives.
    1. Of Christ, maximum category 1 love.
    2. Fulfillment of ambassadorship (bona fide witnessing).
    3. Establishment of divine viewpoint in "cosmos diabolicus."
    4. Becoming a mature Christian.
    5. Production of divine good.
    6. Holding and exploiting maturity to the end, so as to attain the crown.
  8. Reversionism is the enemy of Phase 2 sanctification.
  9. Phase 2 sanctification depends on the constant use of the Rebound technique, 1Jn.1:9.
  10. Ultimate sanctification includes:
    1. Acquisition of a resurrection body, 1Cor.15:51.
    2. Removal of the OSN, Phil.3:21.
    3. Removal of all human good, 1Cor.3:11-16.
    4. Enjoyment of SG3 (surpassing grace blessings in Phase 3), Eph.2:10.
